My husband and I had been there a few times before. Last night we went and I wanted the garbanzo salad that they give you with the pork Milanese. I did not want pasta!!! They did not have any and would NOT let me substitute a soup for the bean salad. My husband ordered the soup for me and I got spaghetti for him, which he did not touch because he had a risotto dish. I ordered the pork because it came with the garbanzo salad. I did NOT want pasta. Very disappointing seeing they did not have the garbanzo salad and would NOT let me substitute. We also had to wait a very long time for our main course to come out. Won't be going back there anytime soon.

Large portions. Very enjoyable meal. All appeared homemade including the rolls. I had the chicken cacciatore and my wife had the Lasagna and was very good. No watery sauce either. Reasonable prices. Nothing fancy but very clean. The pizza looked good. Will return. Don't pass this place up.

I went in for the lunch special which is a drink and 2 slices of cheese pizza for a whopping $4.99. They only had 1 slice and i would have to wait 15 minutes for another slice. I was in a hurry to take a friend to the drs. office and couldnt wait so I took the 1 slice thinking it would be aprox. $1.50 but to my surprise it was $3.25 FOR A SLICE!!! Where is the common sense and humanity in this? I dont think i was treated fairly and will not return to lamottas for pizza, pasta not even a drink. I will not recommend supporting an establishment that clearly doesnt care how they treat customers.. It is one thing if the pizza sits on my counter all day but when I go in to a place i want fresh food and the 1 slice I did get was terrible you could tell it had sat on the counter for some time... I really had to make bad remarks regarding local businesses but I could not let this incident go undocumented. Starz pizza is right down the street. Better yet Poppy's is right across the street.

We went her for lunch, the pizza is really good. We had a pepperoni and a cheese pie. And for apps. Meatball lollipops ! Oh they were good. This place is small but cozy. The wait staff is friendly. Good food. Good fun! Come to lamottas

I ordered a veggie pizza, which I thought was vegetarian, it was not. It was however a pretty good pizza, once I had scraped off the meat. But that was my fault as well, I didn't ask if it was vegetarian. This place is also seriously over priced. It is cute though.

Excellent old school Italian. Good service. Don't expect fancy, but food is noteworthy. The chef knows his way around veal. A recent seasonal special, pumpkin ravioli was outstanding. My second visit and I will be back.

We are locals who live in Fort Myers, but we are on the other side of town. Going to LaMotta's is a little out of the way, but we'll gladly pass Olive Garden & Carabba's (which we do) on our way to our favorite Italian spot in Fort Myers! We come here because we know we won't be disappointed. The food is always great. Never had an entree we didn't like. The sauce is perfect to my taste and my NewYork Italian husband thinks it's awesome too. The house dressing is true, as you would expect in an Italian place (much better than Olive Garden's which I think is very American and only marginally good). The desserts are to die for!! Service is good, busy nights can mean less attention, but we never want for anything. My only complaints would be I would prefer Italian bread over their garlic knots ( which I find too heavy & doughy). And they are a bit pricey, but the quality is there, so we don't mind paying a little more. A change in decor would serve them well. Make it a little cozier? But despite a few minor negatives, LaMotta's is what an Italian Restaurant should be!! Mangia!!

Old school Italian food. Excellent NY style pizza. Desserts are outrageously good. It's a family affair. Carmelo ( chef ), dad in kitchen, mom on floor. Very generous portions. I consider Carmelo famly.

We enjoyed our dinner here. The big draw, as it is for so many places in Fort Myers now, are the coupons (such as buy one, get one free), and we were no exception. This inducement brought us in. We started with the Italian wedding soup and salad - both were quite nice. For dinner we had the Osso Bucco special and Veal Piccata, both with linguini. They were both decidedly above average and the pasta was al dente. Lovely. The waitress was clearly Italian, perhaps an owner, and she was very nice. The ambiance is just fine - sort of an upscale pizza parlor style, but with better that normal food.

Fake tea... Always a bad sign. Everything is extremely expensive. Ordered the fettuccini Alfredo. Large, tasteless portion. Italian Wedding soup had been boiling all day and was a tasteless mush. Be careful what you order here.

We walked in on a Sat at 1pm and no one was in the restaurant. We thought it was closed. I knew this was a bad sign. I ordered spag and meatballs. Not very good - sauce from a can. My daughter did not like her cheese pizza slice. Go to Starz pizza right down the street for better italian or Carrabas.

my family and i went here after a day at the beach. i was excited to go because my uncle had been talking up this place throughout the day. well...im sorry to say even the natives (my uncle and aunt) were a bit disappointed. the wedding soup was good. the veal parm was over cooked. the marinara was a bit too salty. there was live music that day and leonardo was a hit. he was hysterical and had a great voice. molto bene, leo! it was interesting to know that this place has a sister restaurant here in new york city. interesting to know how this one tastes. until next time fort myers!

We each had entrees, Bolognese and the Sicilian Trio (Manicotta, Ravioli, and Cannelloni). Could not eat the Bolognese, tasted burnt or some strange taste. This is a definite one for Restaurant Impossible on the Food Channel! Don't spend the time or money going there.

We went to LaMotta's for the first time today... Despite a couple negatives, we liked this place a lot and will definitely go back soon. There were only two servers for what became a full house on Sunday night. That made it hard to get the server's attention, but she was confident, professional, and funny. Maybe it was the Italian accent... I dunno. =) I had the Chicken Piccata, which was good but needed a little more zing for my taste. My wife had the Manicotti, which was outstanding! The sauce is a little sweet, just the way I like it. You get to choose soup or salad with your entree. My salad had iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, radishes, white onion, and carrots. The creamy Italian dressing had the kick I look for in all my food. Yum! My wife assured me that her Minestrone soup was very good. She remarked that, in addition to the normal stuff, it contained pasta and gnocchi! The bread served with our meals was good stuff! Not sure what to call them because they may or may not have had much garlic in it. I wasn't able to tell if it was just garlic powder or what, but it was tasty! And the texture was good too-- a little hard on the outside and kinda doughy on the inside. Good thing the service wasn't too good or I would have asked for another basket full! We ended the meal with a nice Tiramisu. I'm not a huge fan of the dish normally, but this was very good. All in all, we really liked it. The restaurant was *definitely* filled with a lot of gray hairs, but that's Fort Myers for you. There were lots of people ordering pizzas, so we will either do that next time or go with another tomato sauce based entree. The sauce is great! Unlike what it says on Google Maps, this place is open on the weekends. Sunday 3-9pm.

Tom S. We recently had dinner with friends and had a very pleasant dining experience. The four of us had different veal dishes and were very pleased with the flavor, quality, and portion size. All our special requests were filled promptly. Very good food for a resonable price. We'll be back.

My wife downloaded an online coupon before heading to Ft Myers for vacation. We got a take-out pizza that was still hot by the time we got back to our hotel. Crust was very good, and sauce was ok. Overall, a pretty good pizza, and with our coupon, a great price. Would return to try an entree next time we're in town.

We just ate here. Ordered glasses of house wine. Served in6 oz glass size. charged $6.00 per glass for cheap wine. Food was marginal! Very greasy. 2 entrees w/ a buy one get one free and still ended up with a bill for $63.00!! There are a lot better italian places and much better prices

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
